FPGA Development Intern

About the role

Summer 2027 internship opportunity to help develop and implement FPGA designs under the direction of a senior staff member. Gain exposure to the FPGA development cycle: architecture, HDL entry, synthesis, place and route, verification and test-benching. Perform system level and FPGA tests on circuit boards utilized in wireless communication systems. Work as part of a cross-functional development team to design and implement cutting edge audio products and technology. Estimate, organize and document development tasks, practice solid design methodologies and procedures, and other duties as assigned. This Internship will be Hybrid or Onsite in Niles, IL.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of FPGA development, including:
  • Architecture design
  • HDL (Hardware Description Language) coding
  • Synthesis
  • Place and route
  • Verification
  • Testbench creation and debugging
• Conduct system-level and FPGA-specific testing on a variety of audio products, such as:
  • Microphones
  • Wireless microphone systems
  • Signal processors
  • Personal monitoring devices

Qualifications

• Must have completed two years of coursework in Electrical Engineering or related area
• Basic understanding of FPGA development cycle and familiarity with VHDL or Verilog
• Experience with FPGA tools Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus
• Knowledge of digital logic circuits, embedded controllers, DSP concepts and memory types
• Experience with Python programming language
• Basic knowledge of audio or wireless communications
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Quality conscious

Pay

Hourly rate ranges from $23-$43 per hour based on job function and year completed in school.
