Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students; and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a Wyoming Teaching Certificate.
- Hold appropriate endorsement(s).
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding the components of effective instruction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of content and teaching methods in area(s) of teaching assignment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmental needs of students.
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
- Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with school personnel, students, and parents.
- Demonstrated understanding and empathy necessary for working with students.
- Evidence of willingness to advance district and building priorities.
- A portfolio demonstrating the above performance standards will be accepted.
Responsibilities
- Prepares effectively for instruction by:
- Planning instruction consistent with the district approved curriculum and student performance standards for assigned subject area(s) and grade level(s).
- Planning instruction based on formal and informal assessment of student abilities and needs as evidenced by documents and records.
- Planning effective use of class time.
- Ensures effective instructional interaction (teaching) by:
- Modifying or adapting instruction so that all students learn the required student performances with high levels of success.
- Applying current best practices of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement.
- Implementing an instructional design to reach student learning performances.
- Communicating effectively with learners.
- Providing for and maintaining active student participation in the instructional process.
- Integrating appropriate technology to enhance student performance standards.
- Effectively assesses instruction by:
- Using assessment of student performance to measure the effectiveness of instruction.
- Communicating student progress effectively to students, parents/guardians, and administrators.
- Effectively manages instruction by:
- Attending to non-instructional tasks in a manner which maximizes the teaching/learning process.
- Maintaining required and necessary records in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
- Planning for effective use of additional human resources in the classroom as necessary.
- Establishes a positive learning climate by:
- Addressing the changing needs of students to enhance their self-esteem and dignity.
- Establishing conditions under which students exercise self-discipline, honesty, leadership, and citizenship.
- Establishing and teaching clear expectations for appropriate behavior.
- Establishing consistent consequences for inappropriate behavior.
- Demonstrating and communicating a belief that all students can learn.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the profession by:
- Accepting responsibility and demonstrating progress toward their Professional Growth Plan.
- Demonstrating learning from participation in professional growth opportunities.
- Adhering to the Code of Ethics of the National Education Association.
- Recognizing problems and actively contributing to their resolution.

- Promoting parent/community relations and responsibilities.
- Demonstrating a concern for students' health and safety.
- Demonstrating the ability to adjust to necessary or required changes in the school program.

- Demonstrating the ability to adjust to the dynamics of a group.
- Assessing personal teaching effectiveness in the classroom and making ongoing revisions.
- Becoming actively involved in the school's decision-making process.
- Serving as a role model for colleagues by actively seeking growth experiences and demonstrating a willingness to help them realize success in their roles.
- Demonstrates commitment to the Park County School District #6 by:
- Accepting and fulfilling assigned responsibilities and duties in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Following Board of Education policies, building procedures, and any other rules, regulations, or procedures that may be established by the central or building administration.
- Performing other duties as may be assigned by the building principal.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk without fatigue and discomfort.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push or pull 50 pounds.
