Fourmile - Senior Hydrogeologist
Responsibilities
- Support the project manager in delivering the project by performing advanced technical hydrogeologic analysis, making strategic operational and closure recommendations, and leading and mentoring technical staff
- Ensure that the required hydrogeologic data is collected, compiled, analyzed, interpreted, and applied so that dewatering costs and timelines for operational requirements are communicated accurately to stakeholders and management
- Ensure that necessary hydrogeologic review of modeling and mine designs is conducted, and that potential risks and opportunities are identified and communicated to key stakeholders
- Ensure on-going communication and cooperation with other departments/functional groups (geology, mine engineering, geotechnical engineering, mine operations, environmental, process, etc.) to optimize the ability for all groups to obtain the necessary information and/or accomplish a shared objective
- Interpret and analyze technical data pertaining to ground and surface water quantity and quality; rainfall and drainage; flood control; and water management, disposal, and reuse
- Compile planning and design analyses based on independent critical evaluations and make recommendations pertaining to hydrogeologic issues including water handling
- Prepare comprehensive reports regarding groundwater basins and surface water resources
- Manage the formulation and administration of supporting consultant contracts, may formulate and/or use computer models to evaluate hydrogeologic technical details
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, civil engineering (or similar) is required
- Ten (10) years of experience in the mining industry is preferred
- Familiarity with water well systems, hydraulic flow, and well field balancing is preferred
- Knowledge of advanced principles and practices employed in hydrogeology and hydrology is preferred
- Ability to compile and analyze complex hydrogeologic data; prepare reports and comprehensive studies, and communicate findings effectively in written and oral formats is preferred
- Familiarity with hydrogeologic modeling techniques is required
- Experience formulating hydrogeologic models is highly preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory constraints related to water management activities is preferred
About the Role
The successful candidate will routinely perform engineering and technical tasks relating to the site’s groundwater management, modeling, and remediation activities. This is a senior level position in which incumbents are expected to have a significant background in operational activities and regulatory compliance requirements regarding water use and reclamation.
