Founding Technical Product Lead

What You Will Own

• Ship products and systems zero to one, turning an unclear need into a working solution without assuming another team will finish it for you
• Own architecture end to end across backend services, data, AI/ML workflows, applications, integrations, wearables, and connected devices
• Help evolve an established assessment platform into a next-generation multimodal AI system using inputs such as voice, face, tongue, pulse, wearable signals, and lab data
• Write production code, design schemas and APIs, build integrations, create prototypes, and debug systems yourself when that's the fastest or clearest way forward
• Translate the founder's product philosophy and business intent into buildable specifications, technical decisions, milestones, and acceptance criteria
• Break architecture into real work, decide what you'll build personally, and assign specialized work to the right teammate or contractor
• Lead execution across multiple concurrent initiatives, surfacing dependencies and catching slippage early
• Build and configure agents and workflows that improve internal operations and help the company move faster
• Partner with internal stakeholders to convert recurring pain points into shipped product improvements

What You Bring

• A portfolio of products or systems you personally architected, built, and shipped, ideally in a startup or similarly resource-constrained environment
• Strong backend and systems architecture skills, connecting services, data, models, applications, and integrations into one coherent system
• Current hands-on coding ability; you can move from architecture to implementation and evaluate the quality of AI-generated code
• Practical understanding of modern ML/AI systems, including how multimodal inputs, model behavior, data pipelines, evaluation, and production software fit together
• Experience leading complex technical delivery through influence, whether or not contributors reported directly to you
• Startup judgment: you know what to build, buy, connect, simplify, or postpone, and can make those trade-offs with imperfect information
• Business-first thinking; you seek the underlying need before reaching for the newest technology
• Evidence you use AI tools for real engineering work, having built agents, automations, or workflows with outcomes you can demonstrate
• Comfort working directly with a visionary founder, communicating bad news early, and operating without a fully defined roadmap
• Experience with wearables, IoT, mobile applications, firmware, biosignals, or hardware-connected products
• Health-tech, wellness, diagnostics, clinical-data, or regulated-product exposure
• Founder, founding engineer, early product engineer, principal engineer, or startup technical lead experience
• Experience modernizing legacy SaaS or business systems into AI-native products and agentic workflows

Compensation

Base salary of $130,000 to $150,000, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus tied to execution and milestones shipped.

Equity Eligibility

Equity eligibility begins in Year 2 for exceptional performers.

Location

Based in or willing to relocate to the Salt Lake City area. Remote today, with regular in-person collaboration expected once the office opens.
