Founding Software Engineer

About the role

We are an early-stage startup focused on automating urban planning processes using artificial intelligence. Our goal is to enable cities to design more sustainably, resiliently, and humanely. We are currently working with several cities and are seeking a highly skilled engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement engineering systems from scratch
• Fine-tune YOLO models to segment sidewalks and handle gaps caused by tree cover
• Develop a "deep research" system for processing city planning documents
• Orchestrate AI agents to generate intersection safety recommendations
• Automate the creation of visually appealing city planning reports
• Deploy and maintain our own OpenStreetMap server and Streetmix fork

• Strong attention to detail
• Software experience: Engineering degree or relevant work experience, ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Eager to learn and grow alongside the company
• Comfortable with ambiguity and tackling unfamiliar tasks
• Customer-focused, always considering customer perspectives
• Relentless problem solver, able to find creative solutions to challenges

Qualifications

• High-performing, ambitious individual
• Experience with AI and/or classic computer vision models (Python)
• Familiarity with web development (NextJS)
• Experience with GIS or geospatial data
• Previous exposure to traffic engineering or city planning
• Genuine passion for improving urban planning processes
