Founding Product & Implementation Engineer

Build useful software, help customers get started and solve the problems that get in their way. Bloomily builds software for preschools, childcare centers, camps and afterschool programs. Our tools help teams manage enrollment, attendance, billing and communication. Join Bloomily's founding team as one of our earliest hires. You'll work directly with the founder, take ownership across product development and customer implementation, and help build the tools and processes we use as we grow. We're a small, early-stage team, so you'll need to take initiative, work through uncertainty and turn ideas into action. Your work will include coding, setup, data imports, integrations, debugging and technical support. You'll see how customers use what you build and help make the next setup easier. What you'll do - Build and improve product features using TypeScript, React, SQL and APIs.- Help customers bring their data into Bloomily through reliable imports, data mapping and setup tools.- Investigate problems, reproduce bugs and make fixes that address the cause.- Test changes carefully, especially around customer data, enrollment and billing, and check the result after release.- Turn repeated setup and support work into reusable tools, and explain your work clearly to the team and customers. What working here is like You'll have direct access to the founder and room to propose improvements and carry them through. Some processes are in place; others need building. We'll agree on priorities and give you product context and feedback. You'll need to investigate unfamiliar problems, make progress without a complete specification and raise risks early. We use AI coding tools in our work. You're responsible for understanding, checking and testing the result. You should enjoy both building software and helping people use it. This role includes customer setup and troubleshooting alongside development. What you bring - Examples of software you've built or maintained that other people have used.- Practical experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, React, SQL and APIs.- The ability to debug unfamiliar code and verify your own changes.- Care with customer data, permissions and payments.- Clear communication, reliable follow-through and good judgment about when to ask for help. Next.js, Postgres/Supabase, integrations and automated testing are useful. Experience in software implementation or a customer-facing technical role is welcome when it includes substantial coding. Independent projects count. A particular degree or childcare background is not required. Pay and benefits Base pay is $99,840–$124,800 a year for a normal 40-hour workweek, based on relevant experience and demonstrated ability. This is a nonexempt position; applicable overtime is paid separately. The package includes stock options, a monthly health stipend, paid sick leave, a retirement savings plan, a laptop and company-provided development and AI tools. Location and applying You must be able to work at our Irvine office Monday to Friday by your agreed start date. This role is not remote or hybrid.
