About the role
You will be our first full-time designer. A part-time designer drove our original designs; you'll build on that work and own design from here: a developer-facing compute platform, the console where teams find, buy, and run GPU capacity across global supply. The work is dense and technical, closer to GitHub, GitLab, or Vercel than to a consumer app. This is a hands-on IC role. You'll report to the Head of Product and work closely with the leadership team.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end product design: Take problems from research to shipped UI. You'll pair with engineers through implementation and review what ships.
- The design system: Take over our existing system and mature it. Tokens, components, and patterns for dense, data-rich surfaces: capacity and pricing tables, usage and billing views, cluster and job dashboards.
- The developer experience: Every surface a customer touches. Console, dashboards, onboarding, docs, terminal, and the places where the product meets the terminal.
- Cut the time from signup to first running workload.
- Design direction: Set the visual language, interaction patterns, and quality bar for the whole product. Run critique. Later, help hire the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years designing software, with recent work on developer tools, infrastructure, or technical B2B products.
- A portfolio of dense, data-rich UIs for expert users: consoles, dashboards, tables, logs.
- Information density over whitespace.
- Design systems experience: You've built one, or shipped major contributions to one. Not just consumed one.
- You ship in ambiguity: You go from a rough idea to a high-fidelity product on your own, and you'd rather ship this week than polish next quarter.
Qualifications
- Strong candidates may have first or founding designer experience at an early-stage startup.
- Cloud console or observability work: Infrastructure dashboards, monitoring, or products like the AWS or GCP consoles, Grafana, or Datadog.
- Marketplace experience: Pricing, billing, or designing for both sides of supply and demand.
- Docs, CLI, or API design: You treat documentation and error messages as design surfaces.
- Prototype in code: HTML/CSS/JS, and AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, v0) as part of your craft.
Skills
- Experience with dense, data-rich UIs for expert users.
- Design systems experience.
- Ability to ship in ambiguity.
- Experience with cloud consoles, observability, and marketplace design.
- Prototyping skills in code.
