Founding Partner, Lawyer
About Us
The law firm has not changed in a hundred years. Its unit of production is still an hour of a lawyer's attention, and its only way to grow is to buy more of those hours. Every insight a firm produces is billed once and then lost. We are rebuilding the entire infrastructure from the ground up—intake, conflicts, research, drafting, review, matter management, billing—so the machine handles the work while the lawyer makes the calls. Judgement, advocacy, and client relationships remain with lawyers, and every case teaches the next one.
A traditional firm loses all knowledge the moment a file closes. Ours captures it, structures it, and makes it available for future matters. The firm improves with every case rather than merely becoming busier. We are already operational in Switzerland, where the firm runs on this infrastructure today. California is next—this is not an untested idea but the second market for a proven model, built by a team whose legal AI is already in daily use by 8,000 lawyers.
About the Role
This is not a job—we are not hiring you. We are seeking one lawyer to co-found the AI-native law firm with us, structured to meet California’s requirements and designed to redefine legal practice. You will own the law firm: your license, your entity, your clients, your professional judgement. We have no say over your practice, and that is non-negotiable.
Together, we will incorporate the Management Services Organization (MSO). You and Omnilex will co-found the MSO as equal partners, with real equity on both sides. The MSO builds and operates everything outside the practice of law: AI systems, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, admin, and recruiting. It serves the firm under an arm’s-length services agreement and takes a fee for those services.
You will wear two hats: the lawyer who owns and runs the firm, and the co-founder who builds the MSO that makes the firm faster than any traditional firm. Both start from scratch. You will build both.
Who You Are
- Admitted to practice in California and in good standing, with the seniority to attract clients based on your reputation rather than a firm’s brand.
- You bring a book of business and a network—GCs, partners, founders, and alumni who take your calls and can become clients.
- You’ve considered starting your own firm but hesitated due to the years required to build a back office.
- You prioritize ownership over a salary; founder equity in the MSO plus the economics of your own firm are more compelling than any partnership track.
- You understand legal ethics cold: independence of judgement, fee-sharing, confidentiality, and unauthorized practice. You recognize MSO structures for what they are and know their boundaries.
- You thrive on solving cases, not just discussing them. The legal craft is where your energy comes from.
- You are tech-curious. AI in law excites you—it’s the most transformative development in your career, not a threat.
- You are comfortable being early. No brand, no precedent bank, no support staff on day one—this reads as opportunity, not risk.
Bonus: Experience with MSO, ABS, or alternative legal service structures; prior ownership of a P&L or practice group; litigation experience alongside advisory work; fluency in a second language.
Why Build This With Us
- Build a firm without building a back office. The license, entity, and judgement are yours; the infrastructure is what we co-found together.
- You are a co-founder of the MSO, not an employee. Founder equity, a seat at the table, and upside that scales with both entities.
- Your expertise compounds. Every matter you handle becomes a reusable service, benefiting future clients.
- Be among the first to define what the next generation of law firms looks like. There are only a handful of AI-native firms today—the one you build could set the standard.
