Founding Engineer - Software

This is a Fully Remote Job About Our Client:The organization operates in the engineering software industry, focusing on automating the design and engineering processes for data centers and large industrial projects. It addresses challenges in traditional engineering workflows by developing parametric engines that convert physical constraints into comprehensive engineering deliverables, aiming to streamline and modernize construction design methods. About the Opportunity:The FOUNDING ENGINEER - SOFTWARE role involves building a core engineering platform that integrates multiple design disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural. This position is responsible for developing advanced parametric models, computational geometry systems, AI agents, and automated workflows that transform project requirements into coordinated engineering outputs. The role significantly contributes to making complex engineering processes more accessible, auditable, and scalable, directly impacting the creation of software that designs real-world structures. Responsibilities:Develop the central engineering platform connecting diverse design disciplines.Create parametric models, computational geometry systems, dependency graphs, and automated workflows.Build AI agents capable of reasoning across engineering documents and design constraints.Design workflows that convert project specifications into 3D models, calculations, and documentation.Develop robust interfaces and infrastructure for complex engineering applications.Continuously deliver production software in collaboration with domain engineers and customers. Requirements:Proven experience building and shipping end-to-end software products.Deep understanding of systems including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.Ability to work across the full technology stack from backend to user interfaces.Proficiency with AI coding agents to enhance development speed.Curiosity to learn engineering principles and physical constraints relevant to construction.Strong ownership mentality, capable of initiating solutions without detailed specifications.Experience with computational geometry, CAD/BIM, simulation, physics engines, developer tools, or complex technical software is a plus. Pay Range and Compensation Package:US$200,000–300,000 or CA$285,000–430,000 base salary plus founding-team equity. Benefits & Perks:Fully compensated health plans with 100% dependent coverage.
