Responsibilities
- Build the foster program from the ground up—including applications, screening, onboarding, matching, policies, and support.
- Recruit and build relationships with foster families who are a good fit for the dogs we help.
- Work with the social media team to create foster recruitment campaigns.
- Use the existing matching system to match foster homes with dogs based on archetype, lifestyle, and actual fit.
- Help determine what each foster placement needs to succeed.
- Build the support system around fosters: check‑ins, supplies, emergency contacts, resources, and a point of contact when issues arise.
- Identify the program’s financial needs (food, supplies, medical care, emergency vet funds, etc.) and work with the Finance & Sustainability Director to secure funding through fundraising, grants, sponsorships, and other opportunities.
- Track what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change.
- Develop the foster program into the backbone of how Legacy Paws places dogs, eventually helping dogs coming from shelters who were misunderstood or mislabeled.
- Serve as the central coordinator, bringing together the existing foster/adopter application and matching system, social media team, Finance & Sustainability Director, operational leadership team, and direct access to the founder to make the program work.

About Legacy Paws Rescue
Legacy Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Domenica Robbins, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former psychiatric registered nurse. The organization challenges traditional rescue methods, believing dogs are not disposable because they are fearful, reactive, misunderstood, or simply a lot, and that rescue extends beyond the dog to a community of kindness where healing happens on both ends of the leash. The foster program is a central part of achieving this vision.
