Forward Deployed Engineer III
Job Description
ShipBob is a global logistics technology company powering e-commerce fulfillment for thousands of brands. We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer III (AI) embedded within the People team. This role is not a traditional engineering role but rather one for someone who understands enterprise HR systems, has built AI-assisted automations, and has the process instincts and data governance discipline to transform HR operations.
About the Role
This role reports to the Senior Director, Total Rewards & HR Systems. The first 60 days involve listening, mapping, and diagnosing. After that, the focus shifts to building and executing automation projects, including employee lifecycle automation, comp planning infrastructure hardening, and building a unified People analytics layer.
Responsibilities
- Employee lifecycle automation: new hires, role changes, terminations, transfers, and leave. Automate manual processes using SLAs, escalation paths, and audit-ready logs.
- Comp planning infrastructure hardening: access controls, versioning, approval workflows, and AI-assisted benchmarking in SecureSheets.
- Build a unified People analytics layer connecting ADP Workforce Now, Greenhouse, and Lattice into a governed data model.
- Performance and goals connectivity: establish data infrastructure linking Lattice performance data to workforce decisions.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements
- 5-8 years working with enterprise HR systems (ADP, Workday, SuccessFactors, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI-assisted workflows in production.
- Sound API integration skills, including RESTful integrations and handling auth and error states.
- Real depth in access control design for sensitive data, including HIPAA requirements and role-based access controls.
- Process thinking: ability to clean up messy workflows and expose failure modes.
- Experience with Greenhouse ATS at an API or integration level.
- Background in comp planning tools or sales incentive software.
- Familiarity with iPaaS platforms (Workato, Zapier, Boomi) and direct API work.
- Experience at a high-growth, operationally complex company (logistics, e-commerce, manufacturing).

Pay
Full base pay range: $134,162 - $223,603. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company's discretionary bonus plan based on Company's plans and in accordance with Company's policies.
