Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Astrana is building a high-impact AI transformation team focused on solving the most important problems across the business. The role involves identifying inefficiencies, understanding how work actually happens, and building systems that improve care delivery and business performance.

Responsibilities

• Embed directly within clinical, operations, and market teams to build tools, automations, and AI systems used in production.
• Design and build tools, automations, and AI systems that address high-impact problems affecting cost, quality, and patient outcomes.
• Work with complex, messy datasets (clinical, claims, operational) to develop data pipelines, APIs, models, and user-facing applications.
• Iterate quickly based on real-world feedback and help shape how technology is adopted across the organization.

Requirements

• Experience building and deploying production systems.
• Strong technical fundamentals and problem-solving ability.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG systems, agents, or applied ML.
• Ability to go from idea to working product quickly.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 1-3 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, ML, AI, or related fields (flexible for exceptional candidates).

Skills

Strong signals: You have built and shipped systems that real users depend on, worked with real-world, messy data, and have hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG systems, agents, or applied ML.

$100,000 - $140,000 / year
