Formulation Chemist

Responsibilities

• Develop chemical formulas for urethanes, polyurethanes, epoxies, silicones, and coatings.
• Perform application testing and quality control tests to ensure product meets customer specifications.
• Operate application testing equipment such as universal testers, dispersers, viscometers, and durometers.
• Collaborate with the production team to scale up the production of new formulas.
• Aid Technical Support groups with customer issues and provide solutions.
• Complete technical data sheets to document formula details, production processes, and quality control checks.
• Manage multiple projects weekly, including formula development and application testing.

Essential Skills

• Experience in formulation chemistry, specifically with urethanes, epoxies, and silicones.
• Ability to develop formulas for larger physical products beyond paints and coatings.
• Competence in scaling up formulations for production and setting quality control parameters.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues during manufacturing and addressing customer needs.
• Practical experience with application testing to assess material durability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formulation and application testing.
• Prior formulation experience outside of academia.
• Knowledge of polyurethanes, urethanes, and foam technology.
• Experience in epoxy and coatings chemistry.
• Skills in physical chemistry blending and product development.

Work Environment

• Working in a chemistry lab to develop formulas using various instruments.
• Performing related administrative tasks in the office.
• Operating on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30/4:30 p.m.
• Interacting with all organizational levels.

Job Type & Location

• This is a Permanent position based out of Brookfield, WI.

Pay And Benefits

• The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
