These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed investigation, both theoretical and observational, of the AGN feedback process through cosmic ages.
  • Develop and refine models for AGN feedback through detailed 3D simulations using new, sophisticated software and visualization techniques.
  • Contribute to the scientific research related to the acquisition and use of multi-wavelength observations of nearby group-centered galaxies.
  • Pursue both observational and theoretical/computational aspects of the research.
  • Lead the proposed research effort.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Research experience in astrophysics, particularly in the study of AGN feedback and its impact on the ISM content and star formation in massive elliptical galaxies.
  • Experience with 3D simulations and development of new software and visualization techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative research environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present research findings at conferences.
  • Interest in the X-ray Explorer mission Arcus and its potential impact on cluster and galaxy formation.

Skills

  • Expertise in astrophysics, particularly in AGN feedback and its effects on galaxy formation.
  • Proficiency in 3D simulation software and visualization techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret multi-wavelength astronomical data.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within NASA.
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
  • Flexible schedule and remote work options.

Pay

  • Salary range: $70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
