Form Setter Lead

About the Role

This position directs activities of workers building and setting forms made of wood, metal, vinyl, and other materials according to customer specifications (plans). The role requires flexibility to work varying shifts and long hours (8-12 hours), including weekends and extra hours as needed for production.

Responsibilities

  • Study specifications to plan construction procedures based on starting and completion times for project phases.
  • Assemble and lead a crew at the start of each project.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to order tools and materials, ensuring timely delivery to meet work schedules.
  • Assist the superintendent in supervising personnel, interpreting plans and specifications, and coordinating construction phases to prevent delays.
  • Resolve workforce complaints and grievances with supervisory personnel and labor representatives.
  • Confer with supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to address construction problems and improve methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure adherence to specifications and construction schedules.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, and costs; adjust work schedules as needed.
  • Direct workers on major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
  • Maintain equipment and tools to ensure longevity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary or trade secret information.
  • Prioritize personal safety and the safety of co-workers; stop work if unsafe conditions are observed.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and Company policies; report violations promptly.
  • Perform other administrative and technical duties as assigned (e.g., certification training, safety training, procedure review).

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience finishing concrete structures, setting steel preformed forming systems, and pouring concrete.
  • Experience directing others within a small work unit.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to work in changing weather and site conditions.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.
  • Commitment to observing and fulfilling all safety responsibilities; failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including termination.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as directed.
  • Capability to evacuate work areas quickly in emergencies.
