Forklift Technician Apprentice (Paid 9 - 12 Month Cohort Training & Certification)
About the role
Bailey sold its first forklift in 1949. Since then, Bailey has been a family-owned and operated business dedicated to selling, leasing, renting, servicing, and providing parts forklift trucks throughout the southeast.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a paid forklift technician apprentice development program
- Combine hands-on equipment work with classroom and on-the-job training
- Learn the safe operation, inspection, repair and maintenance of forklifts
- Perform P.M. Service and inspections as directed
- Make repairs or recommendations as needed using appropriate tools and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Clean the work area and return to pre-repair or better condition
- Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs
- Maintain daily records of P.M.s for correct service billing
- Complete full inspections, check all components, especially all safety related items
- Communicate with customers regarding equipment problems, repair costs and quotes
- Represent Bailey as a professional by maintaining professional appearance, wearing uniforms, keeping the vehicle and work areas clean, and being courteous and informative with customers
- Handle other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Must successfully complete the 9 – 12-month training program and all program requirements
- Must be able to work Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at assigned branch locations
- Must be able to train three days per week (once per month) at one of the regional locations (Nashville, Knoxville or Chattanooga)

Requirements
- Personable, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, intelligent, and able to adapt to the forces around him/her—customers, suppliers, co-workers, and other vendors
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills
- Strong mechanical and technical skills
- A technical school certificate or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Forklift Certification (provided by Bailey)

- Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
