Responsibilities

• Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all material handling equipment for customer work orders assigned to you.
• Accept repair orders as assigned by the Service Writer.
• Communicate with customers on diagnosed repairs suggested or required and obtain customer approvals.
• Read work orders, observe and listen to equipment in operation to diagnose malfunctions or problems.
• Offer solutions to meet customer specifications.
• Submit work orders in a timely manner and provide estimates when appropriate.
• Repair, service, recondition, or assemble equipment as approved by the customer or Service Manager.
• Obtain necessary parts in cooperation with the Parts department staff.
• Make mechanical repairs after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdown.
• Record complete repair descriptions on work orders, including correct model and serial number of equipment and hour meter reading.
• Obtain customer signatures and communicate repair needs or completed work.
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on equipment and make adjustments.
• Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
• Maintain a professional image, cleanliness of van (externally and internally), and assigned work area at customer sites.
• Maintain and operate shop equipment and tools.
• Notify Service Manager or Supervisor of safety issues and/or accidents immediately.
• Perform quality work as quickly and professionally as possible.
• Promote marketing efforts to drive parts, service, equipment, and rental sales.
• Complete service forms and submit them directly to the Service department daily via work tablet.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record; CDL may be required.
• Experience in forklift repair is desired; intermediate maintenance experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees.
• Ability to work under little or no supervision.
• Must be able to provide own tools for the job immediately; annual tool incentive is provided.
• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
• 3+ years of mechanic experience and/or education relating to the position.
• Basic knowledge of computer and internet software.

This position is hourly pay based on overall mechanical experience. We offer a training program that includes product certification training in all aspects of material handling equipment.
