About the role

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail, and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize hands before beginning work.
  • Follow all of the required plant GMP rules.
  • Inspect forklift and fill out a daily inspection form every day.
  • If there is a mechanical problem, contact supervisor immediately.
  • First day of week, come in early to set up process department.
  • Take care of cook room, ensuring barrels and ingredients are available.
  • Take care of the 3 main lines, preparing and bringing boxes, pads, dividers, slip sheets, and pallets when needed.
  • Take full pallets down to the cooler and wrap them.
  • Keep the loaf line stocked and ensure pallets are stocked and tops/bottoms are stocked.
  • Bring any pallets on hold to process from the cooler.
  • Send bins, barrels, or boxes up or down the elevator as needed.
  • Change battery on lift when it gets too low.
  • Check water level of battery from time to time.
  • Ensure proper lot numbers are being used of ingredients.
  • Verify weights of rework barrels with rework log before skids of rework are hauled out to be sent upstairs.
  • Use slip sheets between all pallets containing barrels, bags, or any other product not in a box.
  • Corrective Actions: If incorrect lot number is being used, notify supervisor and replace it with correct one.
  • Safety: Must wear a bump cap and seatbelt at all times when on a lift. Honk horn at any intersection, busy areas or corner/doorway. Drive slower through busy areas. Follow safety rules when driving forklift.
