Forklift Operator/Yard Associate

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with locating, selecting, and loading products.
• Safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment to move products throughout the yard.
• Verify materials loaded against invoices, orders, and requisitions to ensure accuracy.
• Complete and process required paperwork and documentation.
• Organize and stock inventory in designated locations.
• Monitor inventory levels and help ensure products remain accessible and well-stocked.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a warehouse, yard, distribution, lumberyard, or similar environment.
• OSHA Forklift Certification or ability to maintain certification.
• Ability to safely operate forklift equipment and other material-handling equipment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand invoices, work orders, and requisitions.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Preferred: Previous experience in a building materials, construction, lumber, or distribution environment.
• Preferred: Knowledge of inventory control and yard operations.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally; ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical labor throughout the workday; ability to climb in and out of forklift equipment and operate controls safely; ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
• Work Environment: This position is based primarily in an outdoor yard environment and requires working in varying weather conditions; employees must be comfortable working around moving equipment, vehicles, and construction or building materials.
