Forklift Operator - Part Time

About the Role

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of freight, including loading, unloading, staging, sorting, and documentation within a transportation or warehouse environment. They operate various Material Handling Equipment (MHE), such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts, following safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move, and stage freight, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
• Assist with freight staging, sorting, and positioning between dock doors, trailers, and warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Support driver activities, including loading/unloading and safety compliance.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices to maintain accurate documentation.
• Identify and report damaged freight, safety issues, or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized dock environment and support overall operational efficiency.
• Follow safety policies, OSHA standards, and PPE requirements.
• Support team productivity and workflow goals.
• Learn and perform tasks under supervision, developing operational skills.
• Work scheduled hours flexibly, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

• Certified forklift operation experience.
• Ability to operate various MHE and physical lifting techniques.
• Strong attention to safety, documentation, and cargo handling accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively, mentor new team members, and resolve operational issues.
• Physical capability to perform manual tasks and maintain a clean work environment.
