Forklift Operator - Part Time 2nd Shift

About the role

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, staging, scanning, and moving freight within a warehouse or transportation environment. They ensure cargo accuracy, maintain documentation integrity, and assist with dock operations. They also mentor less experienced team members and support operational productivity.

Responsibilities

• Move, stage, sort, and position freight according to procedures
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks following safety protocols
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices
• Report damaged freight or safety issues
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment
• Support workflow and operational goals
• Prioritize freight and sometimes lead tasks
• Mentor and train material handlers

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
• Basic math and ability to recognize freight labels and barcodes
• Willingness to learn computer systems and freight-tracking devices
• Ability to operate MHE safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks
• Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs, stand, walk, bend, and work in a noisy, outdoor environment
