Forklift Operator

About the role

This shipping and receiving position is responsible for unloading and loading product in an organized and timely fashion to execute customer requests. The role operates mainly on a tow motor for the shift, requiring a high degree of safety, and reports to the shipping manager and production manager.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks.
• Conduct tow motor inspections before and after shift and report any issues.
• Place received materials in the correct location.
• Band and wrap skids.
• Understand bill of materials (BOM) and other paperwork to ensure specifications are met for loading procedures.
• Retrieve raw materials for operators.
• Operate a scan gun to retrieve products and take them to the correct spot.
• Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions.
• Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
• Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience with operating a tow motor.
• Knowledge of HazMat clean-up and safety.
• Previous experience in loading and unloading trucks is preferred.
• Time management and problem-solving skills.
• Must be a team player with a "can do" attitude.
• Ability to lift up to 50-55 lbs. and sit on a tow motor for periods of time or walk/stand on concrete.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing environment within warehouses. The role primarily uses a lift truck to complete essential job duties and will be exposed to machinery that produces noise.
