About the role
The Forklift Operator prepares loads for shipment, loads and unloads trucks, and places finishing goods in the warehouse in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
Responsibilities
- Operates a gas or electric forklift (sit-down) in the warehouse.
- Performs forklift pre-op inspections while adhering to established safety procedures.
- Reads and understands Bills of Lading and Pick Sheets.
- Audits incoming material to include raw material inspections and verifying approved manufacturer while checking the foil quality.
- Places incoming material with proper size, gauge, date, etc.
- Loads baled scrap trucks and empties racks to be returned to vendor.
- Routes finished goods to prescribed storage locations.
- Takes inventory of stored materials.
- Examines stored materials regularly, reports any damage, and ensures that damaged goods are returned to production for repackaging.
- Moves product to work areas according to production schedule and daily pick-up sheet.
- Stacks product in storage areas, loads and unloads shipments to and from the trailer(s).
- Maintains clean and organized aisles or rack storage, consolidates partial pallets when needed.
- Labels, sorts, wraps, and ties inventory product.
- Loads product into containers by hand.
- Completes required paperwork per company standards.
- Communicates with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
- Complies with company safety policies and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Assists in daily cleaning and organizing of the warehouse.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years or more of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Slip Sheet Experience preferred.
- Forklift certification required, with at least two (2) years' previous experience.
Skills
- Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work well with all levels of employees, whether individually or in a team environment.
- Ability to perform more complex problems.
- Effectively communicate questions, problems, and reports to co-workers, supervisors, and management personnel.
- Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed.
- Must display a positive attitude and work well with all levels of personnel.

Pay
$17.00 - $19.00 / hour
