About the role

Allweather Wood, LLC. (AWW) is looking for a Forklift Operator to join our full-line manufacturing and distribution facility in Washougal, WA. Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA, operating six wood preserving plants and two full-service distribution centers.

Schedule

Day shift: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM with occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed.

Pay

Non-exempt position with a starting hourly rate of $27.65.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and drive a forklift while controlling the movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Position forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transport load to designated area or truck.
  • Unload and/or stack material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Inventory materials on work floor, tally product, and maintain stock rotation.
  • Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
  • Perform preoperational checks on forklifts and report any service or operational concerns.
  • Repackage material/units as necessary.
  • Maintain work area housekeeping.
  • Participate in the yearly inventory audit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months to 1-year related experience and/or training.
  • Possess a current forklift operator’s license, or be able to provide proof of previous forklift operator’s license.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to operate a hand-held calculator.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands

  • Sit on a forklift for the majority of the day.
  • Regularly use arms and legs to get into and out of forklift multiple times a day.
  • Use hands, wrists, and arms to operate forklift and use legs and feet to push forklift pedals.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when inspecting the forklift or performing other warehouse operations.
  • Occasionally stand and walk while working the floor, tallying products, and supporting stock rotation.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds of wood/lumber with or without assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a warehouse and/or outdoor yard setting where lumber and building materials are stored, moved, and distributed.
  • Frequent exposure to dust, wood particles, treating chemicals in some locations, and moderate noise levels from machinery and forklifts.
  • Work around moving equipment, elevated loads, and other industrial hazards, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Surfaces may include concrete floors, uneven terrain, or outdoor gravel areas, which can be wet or slippery at times.
  • May require working in tight spaces and around high shelving areas.
  • Exposure to a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when working in or around outdoor areas of the facility.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring consistent use of hearing protection in designated areas (only one area exceeds noise hearing protection requirements).
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated by company policy and OSHA Standards, which may include:
    • Safety glasses or face shields
    • Hearing protection
    • Safety gloves
    • Safety footwear
    • Hard hats
    • Respiratory protection if necessary
