About the role
Operate a fork truck in a manufacturing/warehouse environment to safely load outbound trucks, unload incoming materials used in our process, and move various materials including pallets, raw material, finished goods, containers (units), small parts, etc.
- Operate multiple sizes of fork trucks depending on job
- Load and unload vans, flatbeds, and containers in a timely and quality-minded manner
- Understand warehouse operations along with material storage locations, products, and processes
- Utilize scan guns or computer systems accurately to facilitate material movement
- Work as a team to meet goals of the Shipping department and the organization
- Perform all tasks associated with maintaining a clean and safe plant and warehouse
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems during day-to-day production; understand escalation process and react accordingly and in a timely fashion
- Effectively communicate with co-workers at all levels regarding daily production; utilize radio and appropriately communicate when needed
- Responsible for the visual inspection of all products being moved and/or loaded/unloaded onto outbound trucks and notifying Supervisor or appropriate personnel of any damage
- Work closely with all team members, supervisors, and leadership to identify, report, and correct existing or potential quality issues, productivity improvements, or cost-reduction initiatives
Requirements
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, stress, provide detailed work, sound reasoning, and meet required deadlines
- Flexibility in duties, analytical skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptionally self-motivated and directed, organized, with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work consistently on a concrete plant production floor and in multiple environmental conditions (hot, cold, dirty, etc.)
- Good vision with or without corrective lenses
- Availability for on-call and periodic overtime
- Ability to frequently bend, lift (minimum 50 lbs unassisted), sit or stand for extended periods, kneel, and move for extended periods
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to utilize appropriate equipment and tools
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Previous experience operating a Fork Truck preferred
