Job Duties

  • Operates manufacturing machinery to safely place metal coils on and off an unwinder using a forklift and overhead crane to move material using the proper procedure.
  • Move, tag, and store materials and finished goods in proper locations, stacking them safely and properly.
  • Unload inbound trucks, ensuring they are appropriately docked and chocked before unloading.
  • Load outbound trucks, ensuring the product is appropriately loaded to include even distribution of weight on the truck.
  • Empty scrap tubs throughout the shift as needed.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation.
  • Verify and document that all functions of the equipment and vehicle are in safe working condition before the beginning of the shift, including checking fluids and safety devices.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Must lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb (stairs).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be available to work overtime, including weekends, to meet the organization's needs.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2+ years of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in inventory control preferred.
  • Ability to work with and communicate (verbal and written) effectively with vendors and within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid forklift operator's license issued by the Company.
