Forklift Operator

About the role

Forte is seeking dedicated production and manufacturing workers committed to excellence in safety, quality, customer service, and teamwork. You will operate a forklift with care to ensure efficiency and safety while navigating the plant floor and storage areas to acquire materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to lift, pull, or push materials onto forks from elevated heights, navigating populated and confined areas.
• Perform safety procedures, including wearing and securing a harness.
• Read and interpret schedules and tickets.
• Use measuring tape (precision to 1/16th of an inch).
• Work and maneuver at elevated heights up to 20 feet.
• Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.
• Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
• Transport raw materials to production workstations.
• Inspect machinery to determine repair needs and perform regular maintenance to ensure safety.
• Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
• Maintain a safe and orderly facility environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a forklift operator.
• Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
• Valid forklift certification preferred.
• Preferably one year of experience in a manufacturing setting in a similar role.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Physical Requirements

• Depth perception required.
• Climbing on and off the lift frequently.
• Continuous exposure to jarring and driving over uneven pavement.
• Constantly getting on/off the lift truck to manually lift, slide, or flip door skins (up to 50 lbs.), involving bending, lifting, and twisting.
• Picking up materials and disposing of them as necessary.
