Forklift Operator

About the role

This is a general yard worker role focused on assembling orders, wrapping completed pallets, and loading them onto customer vehicles using a forklift.

Responsibilities

• Receive customer order slips from supervisor, gather correct products by hand or with forklift, and assemble orders for customer pickup.
• Safely utilize forklift to move completed pallets to staging areas or load pallets onto vehicles.
• Work directly with customers in a friendly, professional, and positive manner to check orders.
• Perform basic, routine maintenance on forklifts, including recharging batteries, lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping in assigned area.
• Perform other duties related to the nature of the job as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of two years of related experience in trades specific to job requirements; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must pass an internal certification program.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Self-starter who can work independently.
• Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy in all aspects of work assignments.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Previous experience operating a forklift or other heavy equipment like a front-end loader or bulldozer.
• Frequent standing for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to withstand repetitive motion of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
