About the role
Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries, and move them to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks.
Responsibilities
- Operate and care for forklifts in a safe manner, ensuring proper qualification and certification.
- Complete and document forklift inspection forms before the start of each shift and when operating a new forklift; submit maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
- Locate stock before the start of each run and deliver appropriate stock to machines safely and on time.
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Complete necessary paperwork and reports accurately and in a timely manner, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Adhere to the daily production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing schedules to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Forklift certification per OSHA standards (must maintain a current Forklift Operator License).
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel for extended periods.
- Frequent requirement to talk or hear.
- Occasional requirement to reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
- Knowledge of various material-handling equipment is an asset.
- Prior work experience as a forklift operator preferred.
- Knowledge of product quality specifications and equipment design to ensure efficient operation.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- Loud noise levels in the work environment.
