Forklift Operator

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and safely load and unload freight using proper equipment to move products to storage throughout the facility.
• Effectively stack and store merchandise, pick and assemble orders for shipment, and check freight for accuracy, damage, and infestation while labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as directed.
• Operate sit‑down, stand‑up, high‑reach forklifts, stand‑up straddle trucks, walk‑behinds, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks, and RF scanners in compliance with OSHA standards to promote safety.
• Meet production standards while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
• Perform additional duties such as inventory checks, cleaning, forklift battery changes, and other tasks as needed.

Experience and Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) – preferred.
• Three (3) months of related work experience – preferred.

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends and adhere to attendance policies.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Work in spaces with 55 inches (1.4 m) of headroom.
• Operate in controlled temperatures ranging from 32 °F (0 °C) to –45 °F (‑43 °C) and in outside ambient conditions.
• Climb ladders or step ladders and access elevated products up to 30 ft (9 m) within a safety cage.
• Wear required personal protective equipment for heights and cold environments.
• Stand or walk continuously for 8‑12‑hour shifts; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Frequent stepping on/off material‑handling equipment.
• Fine motor control for operating equipment with fingers, hands, or feet.
• Lift boxes up to 80 lb (36 kg) and carry product up to 6 ft (2 m) without mechanical assistance.
• Meet vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Hear and speak to comprehend, respond to, and provide safety instructions and read packaging, shipping documents, and safety guidelines.
