Forklift Materials Handler

Responsibilities

• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved.
• Receive items for shipment, inspecting visually for identity, quantity, and condition.
• Check for obvious damage and segregate items requiring special handling.
• Open containers as directed by work instructions or supervisor.
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with forklift or other handling equipment.
• Load materials into carrier vehicles and install loading tools to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Complete receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely via ProTrans specifications.
• Complete receiving and shipping activities using a mobile scanner.
• Identify all shipments by proper marking and labeling, including special handling instructions.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Conduct safety and equipment checks daily.
• Operate machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing.
• Follow all safety procedures and actively work to improve individual and center safety record.
• Provide ideas or feedback to identify continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
