What You'll Do As a Yard Associate, you will support safe and efficient lumberyard and warehouse operations. You will work as part of the yard team to receive, stock, pull, stage, and load lumber and other building materials for customer orders and deliveries. This hands-on position may also be described as a lumberyard associate, warehouse worker, material handler, forklift operator, order picker, stocker, or loader. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, comfortable performing physical work, and enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Material Handling & Yard Operations Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently Receive, stock, organize, and store lumber and building materials in designated yard and warehouse locationsLoad and unload trucks, customer vehicles, deliveries, and branch transfersVerify product quantities and order accuracy before loading or shipmentSupport inventory control, stocking, and material flow throughout the facilityAssist customers with locating and loading materialsIdentify and report damaged, missing, or incorrectly stored materials Equipment Operation Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment Complete routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concernsFollow all equipment operating procedures and company safety guidelinesObtain forklift certification where required; training may be provided Yard Maintenance & Safety Maintain clean, organized, and professional lumberyard, warehouse, and storage areasMonitor racks and storage locations to ensure materials are stored safelyIdentify and report hazards, damaged materials, and unsafe conditionsFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirementsPromote a safety-first work environment Team Collaboration Work closely with yard associates, warehouse employees, drivers, sales teams, and managementSupport daily operational, inventory, and customer-service goalsPerform additional yard, warehouse, stocking, and material-handling duties as assigned What You'll Bring Strong customer-service and communication skillsPositive attitude and team-oriented mindsetStrong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safetyAbility to work independently and in a fast-paced environmentBasic math and measurement skillsDependable attendance and a strong work ethicPrevious experience in a lumberyard, warehouse, building-materials, stocking, distribution, or construction environment is preferredForklift experience or willingness to complete forklift training and certificationExperience pulling orders, stocking inventory, and loading materials is an assetFamiliarity with lumber, construction supplies, or other building materials is preferred Physical And Work Requirements Ability to work primarily in outdoor lumberyard and warehouse environmentsComfort working in varying weather conditions and around equipment, dust, lumber, and building materialsAbility to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shiftAbility to lift and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds, as requiredAbility to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipmentAvailability for overtime or weekend work when required by business needs What You'll Earn Paid trainingParental leaveHealth insurance401(k) matchingPaid time offVision insuranceDental insuranceEmployee assistance program QXO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
