About the role
The Forklift driver is an important position in the success of the CPS Warehouse and Production Teams. The ability to drive a counterbalance forklift (stand up) safely, in and out of trailers and down narrow aisles are important pre-requisites for this position. The ability to work with others and organizational skills are key attributes needed to be successful in this role.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently, perform vehicle safety checks of the lifts and report discrepancies to supervisor
- Create pallet labels in inventory for production tracking
- Able to use pallet jack to move packaging and finished goods around the Warehouse
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Maintain strong communication with all Departments
- Absorb and organize finished goods when needed
- Transferring pallets from Production to Warehouse for storage
- Responsible for creating and maintaining proper written documentation
- Must be willing to work occasional overtime and weekends as determined by Warehouse Supervisor
- Follow and comply with all applicable plant policies, GMP’s, SOP’s, SSOP’s, SQF, safety procedures and HACCP programs
- Conduct all work in a safe and productive manner
- Maintain a friendly and team-oriented attitude under normal and stressful circumstances
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2+ years of standup forklift operating experience
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take feedback constructively and function in a team-oriented work environment
- Concise communication with co-workers and management to promote teamwork atmosphere
- Fluent in English, as well as be able to read documents in English such as SOP’s and operating manuals
- Conceptual skills and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to multitask
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to ensure understanding of written procedures, safety instructions, technical documentation, and verbal communications
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and use of weights and measures
- Must be comfortable using a calculator
- Familiarity with basic computer systems and control interfaces
- Basic understanding of food production and food safety principles is a plus
- Team-oriented attitude; respectful, approachable, honest, dependable, and adaptable to change
- Able to resolve conflicts professionally
- Able to prioritize tasks and remain productive under shifting demands
- Highly motivated, reliable, and hands-on with a strong problem-solving mindset

Physical Demands
- Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours during peak periods or critical operations
- Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills to meet essential job performance and safety standards
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and using hands for detailed tasks
- Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, climbing, and using hand and power tools, including pallet jacks, scales, ladders, and standard material handling and cleaning equipment
- Capable of safely lifting up to 55 pounds frequently throughout the day; ability to handle heavier items with proper lifting equipment or team-assisted techniques to ensure safety
