Forklift Driver- 2nd Shift

As a Powered Equipment Operator team member at Smithfield Foods, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting your coworkers. Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, jack lifts, high lifts, and powered industrial trucks to support movement of product throughout the facility.
• Meet specific certifications during the qualification period.
• Work scheduled shifts and overtime as required by production demands.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
• Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including working with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
• Work in various environmental conditions, including cold (20-40 degrees), warm (over 100 degrees), wet, and humid areas.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting objects (up to 60 lbs with mechanical assistance or 30 lbs repetitively overhead).
• Work around animal blood, carcass parts, strong smells/odors, and in noisy environments.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including repetitive movements and lifting.
• Willingness to work in cold, warm, wet, or humid environments and around strong smells/odors.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Specific vision abilities, including close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
• May require certification to operate various pieces of equipment.

Pay

Competitive starting pay of $20.80 per hour with a $1.00 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift.
