About the role
This position involves operating a forklift within Pratt Industries facilities to ensure safe operations, adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and maintain inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times, complying with Pratt Industries Safety rules and participating in the Plant Safety Committee.
- Follow GMPs and learn Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies.
- Stop and catch quality issues early in the manufacturing process to prevent them from reaching customers.
- Perform general duties including housekeeping and cleaning of work areas.
- Maintain accurate records of unit movements for inventory accuracy.
- Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance.
- Adhere to production schedules and be available for overtime as needed.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Requirements
- Pratt forklift certification or equivalent.
- Previous forklift operation experience, preferably at Pratt or another company.
- Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management systems.
- Ability to multi-task, communicate positively, problem-solve, read a tape measure, and manage time effectively.
- Prior experience in packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, or manufacturing industries.
- Able to read and follow factory master instructions.
- Able to perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
- Able to operate under high-pressure environments and meet strict deadlines.
- Must pass a substance abuse screening.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience driving and operating a forklift.
- Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management systems.

- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities.
- Understanding of product layouts and production specifications.
- Knowledge of product quality specifications and quality standards.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- Noises in the work environment are usually loud.
