About the role
This position involves operating a forklift within a manufacturing environment to ensure safe operations, adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and manage inventory accurately.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the Plant Safety Committee
- Follow GMPs and Pratt Industries quality procedures
- Stop and catch quality issues before they leave the facility
- Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning work areas and break rooms
- Maintain accurate records of unit movements for inventory accuracy
- Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance
- Work overtime as needed, including holidays
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Pratt forklift certification
- Previous Pratt and/or two years’ forklift operation experience preferred
- Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management inventory systems preferred
- Able to multi-task, communicate positively, problem solve, read a tape measure, and manage time effectively
- Prior experience in packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, or manufacturing industries preferred
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
- Able to calculate figures and amounts with speed and accuracy
- Able to apply high school math concepts
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years’ forklift operation experience preferred
- Current Lift Truck Operator License required

- Deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, and talk or hear
- Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
