About the role
Primarily responsible for operating forklift equipment, setting up the debone area, and transporting finished product. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Set up the debone area with coolant, tubs, and transport combos.
- Transport finished product to the scales and to the manifest area.
- Move product to be reworked.
- Maintain forklift in a sanitary manner and replace battery when needed.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Follow directions and work in other departments as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
- Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
- Forklift certified.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to safety requirements.
- Wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Relative poultry industry experience (preferred).
- Basic math functions and skills.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for up to 8 hours.
- Lift up to 60 lbs.
- Frequent exposure to heat (incubators at 99.5°F).
- Exposure to wet and dusty environments.
- Frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs).
- Work around raw, live animal odors.
- Work in a wet and cold environment (45°F / 4°C).
- Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO₂, and moving production equipment.
Safety Requirements
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to safety requirements.
- Wear required PPE (e.g., hairnet, smock, earplugs; subject to change).
