Forester I - Administration, Recreation & Vegetation Management

About the role

The position is located at the Jackson Demonstration State Forest in Fort Bragg, CA. This position is responsible for administration, recreation, and vegetation management tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage administrative tasks for the forest.
• Assist with recreation planning and implementation.
• Conduct vegetation management activities as needed.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Perform medical and fitness evaluations as required.
• Participate in training programs as part of the probationary period.

Requirements

This position requires a Medical Clearance, Registered Professional Forester License, and annual medical clearance for respiratory protection equipment. Candidates must also complete the CAL FIRE Firefighter Academy and Company Officer Academy during the probationary period.

Qualifications

Must have a bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in forest management, recreation, or similar fields is preferred.

Skills

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with forestry software is beneficial.
