What You Need

  • Experience with mechanical and operational systems in Mobile testing units.
  • Knowledge of current adulterants, contaminants, and dilutions used to alter specimens as well as practices used to circumvent positives.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, dealing with all levels of employees and managers.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skill in collecting, labeling, packaging and tracking testing specimens.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in work that requires strong attention to detail and where high levels of accuracy are mandatory.
  • Knowledge of US Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration and Department of Health and Human Services substance abuse collection procedures and, 42 CFR Chapter 1, 10CFR707 procedures for unusual occurrences.
  • Knowledge of DOT collection procedures in 49CFR 40.

Training/Certifications

The selected candidate will become certified through the National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association University (NDASA) CMI, and other internal certifications required to perform your essential job duties.

Education/Experience

  • Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Technical institute graduate or Associate's Degree preferred.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with applicable LANL, DOE, and DOT specifications and procedures for this job.
  • Knowledge of LANL rules, regulations, and policies regarding substance abuse in the workplace.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience accurately interpreting official Laboratory forms.
  • Skilled in problem solving within a customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of LANLs internal drug & alcohol testing policies and procedures (P732).
  • Active DOE Q clearance.

Work Environment

  • Work Location: This position will be onsite and work location is Los Alamos, however; you may be required to work in Santa Fe as needed.
  • All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

  • Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance.
  • New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
