About the role
This hourly, non-exempt position will work with direct and indirect supervision. When directed by supervisor, this position will supervise craft employees assigned to PennDOT projects.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Project Superintendent to develop and maintain a complete and thorough understanding of the plans and specifications for assigned project.
- Work with the Project Superintendent to develop a plan to meet or exceed the specifications, safety requirements, and production paces.
- Supervise assigned crew members to ensure tasks are safely and productively completed in a timely manner with a high quality finished product.
- Prioritize, schedule and communicate plans and tasks to crew members, customers, and inspecting agency.
- Plan work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, trucking and equipment requirements, and traffic control needs.
- Maintain positive relationship with other departments, as required, to support construction schedule.
- Ensure safe working environment.
- Exercice proper care, maintenance, and operation of company equipment.
- Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license for the state in which you reside with acceptable driving record per company minimum standards for drivers.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must successfully complete PennDOT Flagger Training Course.
- Must be CPR and first aid trained.
- Must obtain and maintain all mandatory training.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prefer previous supervisory experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of safety regulations, project scheduling, cost control, project plans, specifications, special provisions, and phases needed to complete the project.
- Knowledge of equipment and tools needed for the project.
- Knowledge of materials required for the project.
- Knowledge of haul time to the job in order to efficiently plan trucking requirements.
- Knowledge of communication hand signals.
- Ability to learn, follow and enforce GOH company policies and procedures.
- Ability to plan and coordinate operations.
- Ability to supervise and evaluate performance of crew members.
- Ability to create construction plans to minimize traffic disruptions and maximize safety for our employees and the traveling public.
- Ability to cross train crew members on all aspects of tasks related to particular construction discipline.
- Ability to work with indirect supervision.
- Ability to utilize heavy job field application as required.
- Ability to use a computer and related office equipment.
