Foreman - Labs - Houston

About the Role

This position oversees a team of installers performing lab installation jobs in the Houston, TX area for H2I Group, Inc. The ideal candidate will have supervision/management experience and knowledge of lab equipment installation.

Responsibilities

• Attend monthly field leader training meetings held by the General Superintendent or General Manager.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance when providing services at city and county schools, government facilities, and private companies.
• Follow Safety Manual and OSHA regulations.
• Obtain verified field dimensions with the Project Manager for material release.
• Review each building/floor for installation readiness two weeks prior to the start date and report findings to the Project Manager, including:
  • Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and wall locations.
  • Completion of rough-ins.
  • Walls primed, finish painted, or wall coverings installed.
  • Ceiling grid or hard ceiling installed at the correct height.
  • Floor covering in place as required.
  • Rooms/areas cleaned up from previous trades and ready for material distribution.
• Work with Supervisor to determine anchorage methods using approved submittals/contract details prior to installation.
• Review Labor Cost to Complete with Supervisor to improve efficiency and reduce installation time/costs.
• Plan or supervise unloads (manpower and equipment).
• Supervise material distribution to ensure all pieces are in the correct location for installers.
• Prepare and update a floor plan showing where each major piece of equipment is stored.
• Proactively order expendables and installation materials weekly.
• Tape casework elevation drawings to walls at each elevation for installer reference.
• Coordinate with onsite trades as required.
• Use tablets or computers for plans, drawings, Outstanding Issue Log (OIL), daily reports, and timecards.
• Manage timecard inputs for all field personnel, ensuring correct project and work group codes.
• Train installers in material handling methods.
• Set and maintain high-quality standards for all installers and carpenters.
• Ensure every task is finished 100% (e.g., doors/drawers adjusted, fillers, caulking, hardware installed).
• Maintain cleanliness: remove tape/shipping labels, cut shims, remove debris, and sweep the area.
• Organize, protect, and maintain materials at the jobsite; secure/lock up all H2I tools and materials at the end of each workday.
• Attend customer’s weekly job meetings.
• Notify the customer prior to major deliveries and arrange for on-site staging.
• Determine and sign out power tools, specialty tools, and expendable materials for each installer.
• Walk the installation area to update the completion list for work in progress.
• Complete each project on time, within the Labor Cost Budget, and to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Practice, teach, and promote safety at all times.

Requirements

• Must be punctual, presentable, and professional.
• Experience with bleacher installation and supervision is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong communication skills with supervisors and team members.
• Valid driver’s license (required for accessing schools and job sites or obtaining badges).
• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and ability to follow instructions for wiring motors and limit switches.
• Comprehension and knowledge of power tools (e.g., electrical/battery drills, saws, grinders, impact torque drivers, table saws, hammer drills).

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb and work off scaffolds or in electric scissor lifts.
• Requires standing, kneeling, crawling, climbing, stretching, and sitting.
• Stand or walk for 8+ hours.
• Ability to lift both arms overhead.
• Arm, hand, and finger dexterity for activities such as reaching, handling, and feeling.
