About the role

The Foreign Language Teacher is responsible for teaching students to speak, understand, write, and read a foreign language, fostering an appreciation for its culture and people. They also serve as a role model for students.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
• Manage the classroom to ensure a positive learning environment.
• Design and implement effective strategies to achieve learning goals.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and its cultural context.
• Supervise students in non-classroom settings and promote education within the community.
• Adhere to district policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining classroom activities.
• Promote the development of a second language ability among students.
• Prepare students for summative assessments at local, state, and national levels.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate and reinforce subject areas.
• Identify and address individual student needs.
• Present recommendations for enhancing the program.
• Stimulate students to apply themselves to learning the second language.
• Communicate regularly with the principal and follow all directions.

Qualifications

• Kansas State Teaching Certificate/Licenses in assigned area(s) of instruction.
• Highly qualified as defined by the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
• Ability to convey information through various methods to encourage learning.
• Proficiency in using technology as an instructional tool.
• Effective classroom management skills.
• Continuous professional development in the discipline.
