About the role
The Foreign Language Teacher is responsible for teaching students to speak, understand, write, and read a foreign language, fostering an appreciation for its culture and people. They also serve as a role model for students.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
- Manage the classroom to ensure a positive learning environment.
- Design and implement effective strategies to achieve learning goals.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and its cultural context.
- Supervise students in non-classroom settings and promote education within the community.
- Adhere to district policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining classroom activities.
- Promote the development of a second language ability among students.
- Prepare students for summative assessments at local, state, and national levels.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate and reinforce subject areas.
- Identify and address individual student needs.
- Present recommendations for enhancing the program.
- Stimulate students to apply themselves to learning the second language.
- Communicate regularly with the principal and follow all directions.
Qualifications
- Kansas State Teaching Certificate/Licenses in assigned area(s) of instruction.
- Highly qualified as defined by the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
- Ability to convey information through various methods to encourage learning.
- Proficiency in using technology as an instructional tool.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Continuous professional development in the discipline.
