About the role
The Foreign Exchange & Trade Services Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, growth, and day-to-day management of Old National Bank's Foreign Exchange (FX) and Global Trade Services (GTS) businesses. This role oversees business development, client engagement, product strategy, risk management, sales execution, and operational effectiveness while partnering closely with Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Credit, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Executive Leadership. They lead efforts to expand foreign exchange and trade finance revenue by delivering consultative solutions to commercial and middle-market clients with international banking needs.
This individual will serve as the bank's subject matter expert for foreign exchange risk management, international payments, and trade finance solutions while fostering strong internal partnerships across the organization. The role combines business development, strategic leadership, product expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to support the continued growth and success of Old National Bank's international banking capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Guide investments in product capabilities and technology.
- Set budget and oversee project performance.
- Set goals for market and coverage models as ONB grows.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow Foreign Exchange and Global Trade Services revenue across the Old National organization.
- Partner with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Consultants, Private Bankers, and other key stakeholders to identify new business opportunities.
- Establish annual business plans, revenue goals, and growth objectives aligned with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with the executive team to ensure alignment with overall business goals and objectives.
- Lead a team of trading risk managers, sales professionals, and other key roles to support the FX business.
- Monitor market trends, business performance, client activity, and profitability metrics to identify opportunities and adjust strategies as needed.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and exceptional client service.
- Partner with executive leadership to advance strategic initiatives that enhance the bank's international banking platform and client experience.
- Ensure full compliance with all bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, risk management standards, and industry best practices while maintaining a strong control environment and minimizing operational, regulatory, and reputational risk.
- Drive achievement of annual Foreign Exchange (FX) and Global Trade Services revenue, profitability, and growth objectives through the development and execution of strategic business plans that expand product penetration across Commercial Banking, Private Banking, Wealth, Treasury Management, and other targeted client segments.
- Grow market share by identifying, developing, and converting new international banking, foreign exchange, and trade finance opportunities throughout the bank's footprint.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team by setting clear performance expectations, coaching for success, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client-centricity.
- Strengthen enterprise-wide awareness, adoption, and utilization of Foreign Exchange and Global Trade Services capabilities through education, training, and strategic partnership initiatives across business lines.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Credit, and other key stakeholders to enhance processes, improve operational efficiency, and support the continued evolution of the bank's international banking platform.
- Provide accurate business forecasting, performance reporting, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership regarding growth opportunities, industry trends, and business performance.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, International Business, Banking, or a related field; advanced degree and/or professional certifications preferred; and/or H.S. Diploma/GED with equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Foreign Exchange, Global Trade Services, International Banking, Treasury Management, or related financial services, including leadership responsibility for an FX, International Banking, Trade Services, or Treasury Solutions business.
- Deep expertise in foreign exchange markets and risk management, including spot, forward, swap, and option-based hedging strategies, with a proven ability to advise commercial and middle-market clients.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international banking and trade finance, including cross-border payments, global treasury solutions, trade finance products, and domestic and international payment systems (SWIFT, Fedwire, CHIPS, ACH, SEPA, and related clearing and settlement networks).
- Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and risk management frameworks, including AML, KYC, OFAC, sanctions compliance, operational controls, and international banking regulations.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic growth initiatives that drive revenue expansion, client acquisition, market penetration, profitability, and overall business performance.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and consultative skills, with the executive presence and ability to influence C-suite executives, business owners, senior commercial bankers, and key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships across Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Credit, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Executive Leadership teams.
- Knowledge of foreign exchange and trade-related legal documentation, including ISDA agreements, trade finance instruments, pricing strategies, and contractual frameworks.
- Established industry network and thought leadership demonstrated through market presentations, client advisory engagements, economic outlook discussions, and participation within the international banking, treasury, and trade finance communities.
- Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
- Computer literate; fluency in Microsoft Office programs, Excel analysis required.
- Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on researched conclusions.
- Knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Position may require travel to other Old National, client, or meeting locations.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $127,900/yr - $258,600/yr plus bonus. The base salary indicated reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on factors including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.
