Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Ford service department to ensure efficient workflow and timely vehicle repairs
- Supervise service advisors, diesel technicians, porters, and support staff
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing customer concerns and resolving escalated service issues professionally
- Oversee warranty administration and ensure proper documentation and claim compliance with Ford policies
- Cover scheduling and dispatching of repair orders to maximize shop productivity
- Review repair orders for accuracy, completeness, and proper billing procedures
- Work closely with the parts department to ensure timely parts availability and inventory management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop service department personnel
- Conduct regular team meetings focused on safety, performance, and operational improvements
- Maintain departmental financial performance including labor sales, gross profit, and expense control
- Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet accounts and commercial customers
- Support after-hours or emergency customer service needs when necessary
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, or Shop Foreman in a truck dealership or heavy-duty repair environment
- Experience with Ford commercial vehicles and warranty systems preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel truck diagnostics, maintenance, and repair operations
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with dealership management systems and computer software
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing fleet and municipal accounts
- Understanding of Ford warranty procedures and OEM compliance standards
- Ability to analyze KPIs, technician productivity, and departmental financial reports
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
