About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Footwear Color Designer to join a global footwear design team supporting a high-profile sportswear and lifestyle portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Develop compelling color stories, palettes, and seasonal concepts for footwear.
  • Create moodboards and visual presentations that clearly communicate the inspiration and rationale behind color direction.
  • Research sneaker culture, consumer trends, and cultural movements to inform design decisions.
  • Translate consumer insight and trend information into commercially relevant color concepts.
  • Review seasonal footwear lines and identify opportunities for fresh, differentiated color stories.
  • Help guide color concepts through the product development journey, from initial ideation through execution.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, product teams, developers, merchandising partners, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Present creative concepts and color direction to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Balance creative storytelling with consumer relevance, brand expression, and product considerations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional footwear color design experience.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating color storytelling, moodboards, palettes, and concept development.
  • Deep knowledge of sneaker culture and footwear consumer trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to use consumer insights, cultural research, or trend data to influence design decisions.
  • Experience developing color and product narratives within sportswear, lifestyle, streetwear, athletic footwear, or related categories.
  • Strong understanding of how color contributes to a product’s overall story and consumer appeal.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing color concepts across an entire seasonal product journey.
  • Experience developing color direction for seasonal footwear assortments.
  • Background working with a major sportswear, footwear, lifestyle, or streetwear brand.
  • Experience partnering across design, development, merchandising, and product teams.
  • Experience presenting creative direction to senior or cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with color & materials (CMF) processes and footwear product development.
