About the role
To supervise youth football games as scheduled by the Moab City Recreation Department.
Responsibilities
- Attend referee clinic.
- Learn the rules of football and specific league rules.
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time dressed and ready to start the game.
- Start all games on time.
- Come prepared with the following: umpire shirt, running shoes, whistle, stop watch, penalty flag, penalty card cheat sheet, pencil and notepad, hat, rule book.
- Attend any coaches meetings to establish rapport.
- Learn to be consistent in calling games.
Requirements
- Submit a formal application; finalists will interview with the appropriate hiring authority.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds for extended periods.
- Speaking, hearing, and seeing are essential.
Skills
- Knowledge of football rules and specific league regulations.
- Ability to attend and complete referee clinic.
- Consistency in game calling.
- Effective communication with coaches and participants.
- Preparedness with required equipment and attire.
Schedule
Work schedule may consist of irregular hours and weekends.
