About the role
Solid Ground is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing poverty through direct services and advocacy. We aim to provide stability and empower individuals to achieve success.Responsibilities
- Pick up food and non-food items from food distribution warehouses such as Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline.
- Make deliveries to various Seattle food banks five days a week, including loading and unloading the truck.
- Count, verify, and ensure all items on pallets match the pick list and work with distributors to maintain order accuracy.
- Note and communicate any discrepancies with Program staff or supervisor.
- Issue order forms to food banks for verification and signature.
- Pick up pallets, bread trays, milk cartons, wooden bins, etc., from food banks and return them to proper warehouses as required.
- Provide input to Food System Support staff in developing and revising regular and holiday schedules for food pick-ups and deliveries.
- Follow set delivery schedule and notify supervisor of any deviations.
- Make decisions regarding additional delivery or pickup needs as needed.
- Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Conduct visual checks for tire pressure, leaks, air brake functionality, and other essential components.
Requirements
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Experience driving a commercial vehicle
- Knowledge of food distribution systems and logistics
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in customer service or related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills
