Job Summary
The Food Service Associate (Tray line) plays a crucial role in the Nutrition & Food Service team at SGMC Health. This position involves dispensing food for patients and employees, portioning food according to department standards, and ensuring food is served safely and attractively.
Responsibilities
- Dispensing food for patients and employees
- Portioning food according to department standards and supervisor's instructions
- Assembling food attractively on plates according to department guidelines and direction
- Maintaining assigned departments areas in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner
- Transporting and storing food in a safe and proper manner to ensure food quality
- Adhering to safety and sanitation standards to ensure quality food service
- Providing relief for other duties in patient food services as needed, including helping with menu selection, tray and nourishment delivery, verifying diet orders with nursing, and patient rounds to ensure patient satisfaction

Working Conditions
- Potential hazards from using heated china, can openers, lifting boxes, pushing food carts, placing and removing trays from the lowest to highest point of food cart, working in possible water spills around dish machine during peak periods, and from other equipment found in the department
- Extensive walking and standing during shift
- Requires lifting and bending using correct techniques
- Able to lift loads up to 30 pounds
- Exposure to infectious materials, hazardous chemicals, loud noise, slippery surfaces and moving objects
- Must be able to perform motor skills frequently such as wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation
- Frequently required to bend, twist, turn and reach full range of motion
