About the role

The Food Standards Program Associate will be a key member of a fast-paced team that develops and executes innovative approaches to changing the food environment. This position supports work around the NYC Food Standards applied to various settings such as foods and beverages served through programming, in food and beverage vending machines, at meetings and events, and in retail settings including cafeterias and cafes.

Responsibilities

  • Research food product nutrition information
  • Conduct data entry and assist with interpretation of findings
  • Support nutrition analysis and recipe development projects for foodservice settings
  • Auxiliary with and conduct site visits, trainings, technical assistance, and Food Standards assessments
  • Create technical tools, guides, and promotional materials to support NYC Food Standards implementation
  • Draft briefs, prepare presentations, and develop website content
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize scientific articles to inform program development and strategy
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have completed their first semester in a master’s level program in nutrition or public health.
  • Candidates studying research evaluation or public policy will also be considered.
  • Candidate with culinary background strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ESHA Food Processor or a similar nutrition analysis software a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, creative thinking, and follow through.
  • Superior writing skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel.
