Food Services Operations Specialist

About the Role

Coordinates daily food service operations ensuring timely, high-quality food service. Completes opening and closing procedures for assigned location. Completes inventory, prepares requisitions for food supplies within approved budgetary guidelines, and receives deliverables. Provides input into policy development from a professional, technical, or procedural perspective. Assists in monitoring the budget for single or multiple, closely-related functions or areas of service.

• Provides input into procedure/protocol development, ensures compliance, and provides interpretation of procedural intent as requested.
• Monitors workflow and schedules staff accordingly.
• Provides input on performance appraisals and personnel actions such as hires, fires, and disciplines.
• Assists in the development of immediate, daily, and/or monthly goals and measures for single or multiple, closely-related functions, areas, or processes, and compiles periodic unit/area performance data.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) in a related area, such as food production or nutrition, preferred.
• Two years of experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare facility or public institution.

• Analytical ability to gather and interpret data, identify discrepancies, problems, or issues, and determine methods for ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Communication and interpersonal skills for routine contacts with internal and external customers/stakeholders to discuss primarily factual information.
• Discretion and conflict-resolution skills, primarily with people within the unit/function.
• Courtesy and listening skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend procedures and technical literature in a specific functional area.
• Leadership skills, including a demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles, comfort with decision-making, coaching, teaching, and counseling skills.
• Technical knowledge of food and supply product specifications.
